Wednesday in class we read a poem called "homage to my hips" and it was such a beautiful poem. I think it means that you should love yourself and your body and you shouldn't let anybody tell you what is beautiful and what isn't. I think the poem meant to be yourself and to accept who you are. You shouldn't let others put you don't because you don't weigh less than 130 pounds or because you have gray hair, you are yourself and that makes you beautiful. Society perceives girls as weak, and in fact that is not true we can be just as strong and powerful as boys. Society also teaches girls that they need to be slender, they can't have acne, and they have to have long hair to be beautiful, they have an image stuck in their head that they think is perfect when in reality everybody is beautiful and they are unique in their own way and that's what makes them special.
